Aberdeen Food Bank
Aberdeen Food Bank began around 2008. Several members of Aberdeen Mennonite Church decided that they wanted to open a Foodbank every second Saturday for 20 clients.
In partnership with Harvest Manitoba we provide food each week for families that live near the church that have signed up through the Food bank program.
We typically serve over 50 people each week, also providing coffee and sweets allowing us to sit down with folks giving us an opportunity to get to know many of the people who came regularly.
While many folks (both volunteers and clients!) have come and gone, our volunteers have also had the opportunity to get to know many folks in the community and hear their stories over the years, creating a meaningful opportunity to serve in the neighbourhood of our church.
Harvest Manitoba's Food Program is for anyone who may be struggling to make ends meet. If you, or someone you know is in need of a little extra food from time to time, please do not hesitate to contact them to sign up for support. Click here for more info on how to sign up and Harvest Manitoba will assign you to a food pantry that is conveniently near where you live. Signing up via their phone number or online, is both free and confidential.
